Eduroam is a secure international roaming service dedicated to the higher education and research community. The service allows users from participating academic institutions to obtain a secure internet connection at any other institution that supports the service, whether inside or outside Egypt, at no cost.
The identity verification process takes place at the user’s original institution, which provides them with their academic email address using their institution’s data, while the host entity grants internet access.
A secure tunnel is used that ensures end-to-end encryption of user data (username and password) and that no intermediary parties can access it.
Once the device is set up once, it works automatically worldwide.
Terms and Conditions
Academic purpose
The service is intended for academic purposes only, and its use for illegal purposes such as downloading copyrighted material is prohibited.
Device policy
The user is allowed a maximum of (4) devices at the same time.
Password strength
Strong passwords must be used (at least 8 characters, including uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols).
Goal
Facilitating the movement of researchers and students by providing "unlock your device and be connected" in thousands of locations around the world.
