Connection Guide

For The End Users

Basic Connection Requirements

  • Network Name (SSID): The standard name worldwide is “eduroam”.

  • Username: Must be an email address, for example: username@university.edu.eg

    Password: The user’s credentials obtained from their original institution

Set Up Steps for Different Devices

  • Windows and macOS Devices: Setup steps video creation is in progress.

  • Tip: Once the device is set up at your university, it will automatically work anywhere the service is available globally, without needing to be reconfigured.

 

Usage Policy and Obligations

  • Users must adhere to the following guidelines to ensure the continuity and security of their accounts:
  • Password Strength: Must be at least 8 characters long, including uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols, and must not contain the username.
  • Password Change Frequency: Change your password every 180 days.
  • Account Protection: Your account will be temporarily suspended if you fail to log in five consecutive times.
  • Number of Devices: A maximum of four (4) devices can be connected simultaneously.

  • Fair Use: This service is intended for academic and research purposes only; downloading movies, music, large files, or engaging in illegal activities and data piracy is prohibited.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting

  • If you encounter a problem while roaming, you should first contact the IT department at your home university.
  • Your home university will verify your information and assist you in setting up your device.
